Between 1999 and 2007, I released 3 albums of “instrumental music for the season”. Titled “Pine Needles” (1999), “Home, back east” (2003), and “Gatherings” (2007), the albums have become a holiday music tradition for many listeners. It means the world to me when someone says, “Jack, it doesn’t feel like the holidays until I hear those songs”. Well, finally after 14 years, I’m super excited to announce the 4th album in the series! “This time of year” features 15 jazz-pop vignettes that, like the previous three albums, is sequenced to follow the calendar from Thanksgiving to New Years Day. The theme of this collection involves a “chance meeting” between two individuals who explore the possibility of new love while experiencing the holidays together.

This is perfect music for enjoying an evening cocktail, a nice dinner, wrapping presents, or just sitting by the fire. It also provides a nice break from having to hear that damn Mariah Carey song for the gazillionth time!
